Puranjot lives and works from her home on the coast of Mount Desert Island, Maine. She shares her life with her husband, three teenage children, and their dog, Luna. She moved to Maine in 1998 to attend College of the Atlantic, where she graduated with a focus in education and adolescent psychology. She has worked as an educator and community builder in numerous settings over the past 15-years.
Outside of her work with IKYTA, Puranjot runs a non-profit with her husband called Open Table MDI - an organization addressing food insecurity on Mount Desert Island, through the sharing of free weekly meals. Puranjot is a long-distance marathon swimmer and can be found most mornings in the lakes and ocean waters of MDI. She is also Assistant Coach for the island's local swim team. On a snowy day, curling up with a latte and a book of Mary Oliver poetry brings her great joy.
